Robert Johnson
Robert Johnson is Director of Engineering at Facebook, where he leads
software development for scaling, performance, and abuse prevention. He
has overseen a tenfold expansion of the site to more than 100 million
users and billions of page views a day, and has built a scalable
architecture for the unique technical challenges and fast paced
development environment of a large scale web 2.0 site. He has also led
the development of technology to make facebook one of the fastest
rich-content sites on the web. He received a B.S. in Engineering and
Applied Science from Caltech, and has spent the last ten years working
in a variety of engineering and management roles at startups in Silicon
Valley.
Robert can address the significance of web 2.0: the value that the social graph and social interaction add to the world, and how web technology allows products to tap into that enormous value. This will also touch on the significance of social platforms such as facebook.
Robert can customize to your audience, to tie it in to your industry. If you are interested in a more technical talk, he can also discuss management of technology in the faster paced world of web 2.0.
